Mass. burglary suspect complains of heavy haul

MASHPEE, Mass. (AP) ? Perhaps the man found with a 40-pound backpack full of items Massachusetts police say he stole from several Cape Cod homes shouldn't have taken so much.

Police say the suspect captured early Thursday was taken to Falmouth Hospital following his arrest because he was complaining of back pain.

Chief Rodney Collins tells the Cape Cod Times (http://bit.ly/P2vA7L ) that 23-year-old William Kophammer was caught by a police dog shortly after 6:30 a.m. Thursday carrying a backpack filled with coins, jewelry, iPods and other items he allegedly stole from several homes and cars.

Kophammer, who was wanted on two warrants, was charged with breaking and entering at night and resisting arrest. He will be scheduled for arraignment at a later date in Falmouth District Court.
